The postman came by to deliver my first copies of ALFIE RUNS AWAY, just in time for publication day~ Hooray!
I had such great time illustrating this text by Kenneth Cadow--it is the perfect combination of sweet and hilarious. That Alfie's got some serious attitude!
This, from Macmillan:
Alfie's mother wants to get rid of his favorite red shoes he's outgrown. So Alfie is running away. His mother points out that he might get thirsty on his trip, and she gives him a bottle of nice cold water. And a flashlight, in case it gets dark. Together, they pack everything Alfie might need. But once he is out in the wide world, Alfie discovers that some very important things can't be packed in bags. If you like, you can order a copy here, or check it out at your local bookstore. Happy reading!

Shadra--now I kind of want to make an Alfie doll! Fun side project :)
I'm going to get my copy NOW!!!! OMG!! It's a prefect day for Alfie and me! This is great new. Congrats to you young lady! I know I'm going to enjoy each minute of looking at it he he he he he!!!
Lauren--I am so thrilled, have been so impressed all along. You really brought Alfie to life. I always knew Alfie's mom was pretty sharp, but I didn't foresee her being so hip, so cool. And Alfie--he kind of reminds me of my teenagers... (they've got a similar attitude) I hand over the keys and know that all I can send along on those early solo drives is full tank of gas and a lot of love. I hope we get to work together again!
Thank you Vanessa! Hope you'll enjoy reading it :)
And thanks so much for dropping by, Ken! I am really glad you are happy with the art, and I hope we'll get to work together again, too--Your writing is such a pleasure to illustrate!
Oh congratulations Lauren! How exciting!

Was Laura Godwin your editor for this, Lauren?
Thanks, Julian!
Actually, not Laura for this project--Frances Foster @ FSG was my editor :)
